My paintings bring together my passion in still-life illustration, graphic design and typography. The architectural paintings start with visiting the local site and taking a series of photos for inspiration. The abstract paintings start with dozens of sketches to help me work out the compositions and colors. Once I decide on the overall composition I sketch the entire image and each detail in pencil on an 18" x 24" canvas. When the pencil sketch is complete I begin to layer on the colors and details with acrylic paints. The last step is to have the original painting professionally photographed to make the archival giclee prints. The entire process can take up to two months for each painting.
